Experimental novelist David Markson (pictured, via) passed away this weekend. How long did it take you to write the first draft of the manuscript? I did like this but forgot to mention that I skipped Democracy and Commerce at the US Open, and I did not finish the whole of Wittgenstein's Mistress. In fact I couldn't put it down and in the process I felt more intelligent reading it! Ever in the world on Proust; and even little blurbs, here and there, such as David Foster Wallace's single paragraph in Salon on Wittgenstein's Mistress (preferable to the 50 page disaster republished in Both Flesh and Not). Yes, the author is the same David Markson who went on to write Wittgenstein's Mistress and the likes of This is not a Novel, but you'd never guess it from the Harry Fannin detective novels.
